“I had no idea what to expect and was very nervous but Nikki put me at ease. After a few weeks I felt better and today I feel very confident about myself.” Alice
I am an Integrative counsellor. This means I draw on various strands of counselling theory and use them to create a tailored approach that helps you and your situation:
Person centred counselling: I seek to enable a trusting relationship built on empathy, non-judgmental listening and honesty. This gives space for you to explore who you really are and what you really want.
Psychodynamic counselling: Our past and childhood relationships can deeply affect our current relationships. Psychodynamic counselling seeks to discover links with the past and the present. This can help reveal unhelpful patterns of behaving so that you can begin to move forward.
C.B.T (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy): How we think about life can deeply affect how we feel and behave. C.B.T explores practical ways of changing our negative thoughts and behaviour, which in turn can significantly change our feelings.
Mindfulness and Creative Visualisation: At times, it can help to experience and learn creative techniques that you can use throughout the week. These techniques are particularly helpful for combatting anxiety.
Ultimately, I see counselling as a journey taken together by counsellor and client, helping you to remove obstacles that stand in the way of you having happy and fulfilling relationships and living as you would like to.
